James Howells twitter bio reads "Bitcoin: Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash, since #4334".

Block 4334 was mined on February 15, 2009 and it was the first coinbase received by this address. The address has mined a total of 8,000 BTC over a period of two months between February and April 2009. After that there's no activity except for incoming dust attacks. It's among the oldest inactive addresses with zero spent.

Most early users lost their coins without seed phrase or proper backups when Bitcoin was still in beta and had no value in those early days. At least James still has a small hope of recovering his wallet file.

He recently enlisted help from NASA, some hedge funds and a team of AI and environmental experts to start a 12 month long rescue operation. If successful, he has pledged to use the money to help the community of Newport, South Wales and invest in community owned Bitcoin mining facility.
