This is more of a meta discussion, but I fail to see how token-based economies are going to be the future of the decentralized web.
Any future web3 platform that requires tokens to interact, even BTC, will lead to exclusion. Try to imagine a future in Africa there are 5 users trying to connect. 2 of them on ETH L2s, 2 on BTC and 1 not on any blockchain at all. That's segmentation of the web, if that 1 user cannot afford all these tokens, then that's exclusion. The web is about open access to all. If web 3 is to solve the problem of anti-censorship, it just need another way to fund the sites and different incentives for nodes/validators.
I know that a decentralized web profit margin is low since it's all p2p, (hence the need for a token), but is there any future in which a platform emerges that is completely open and non-exclusionary?
