This is a response to the optimistic and happy-go-lucky post that states the opposite.
Nothing, and I mean nothing is guaranteed in this life, not even if you are the CEO of a multimillion dollar company for the past 16 years with an exceptional CV and a flawless past of leadership success. Why do I know this? Because I just described what happened to my father.
Now, I don't have the strongest bond or relationship with my father, but I have to admit that he is one of the most hard working people I've ever met. He rose from salesman all the way to CEO in a span of 16 years. And he was damn good at it. But no one was prepared for what was coming.
One fateful day he did exactly what his superiors (The Board) told him to do, my father advised them that it was a mistake, but they insisted, so he carried on without a choice. When they realised they fucked up and cost the company A LOT of money, they were quick to wash their hands and blame my father for their errors. Needless to say, my father lost everything. That was almost 7 years ago, he didn't even get a recommendation letter, not even a thank you, matter of fact, anyone that called that company to ask about my father would get a straight up answer advising against hiring him, causing him to not being able to land a job ever since. He is also almost 60 years old, he's too old for some, and overqualified to others. Like I said before, I don't have the best relationship with him, but it breaks my heart to see him at his lowest when he was at some point, the Don fucking Dada.
If someone like him, with an exceptional Curriculum, a Master Degree, and a shitload of experience lost his field over some bullshit, then so can you. It doesn't matter how good you are at your job, you are disposable and replaceable. Don't think for a second that you are special to them. You're just a number, that generates them or costs them more numbers.
The biggest mistake my father made was to not invest, not a single dime, he fucked up big time. I can't even begin to imagine how different my parents life would be now if he just bought some Stocks or Crypto, or even a few properties when he was doing so damn well. He took his success for granted, and I don't blame him, he was fucking good at his job, but life has a funny way to hand out lessons.
I spoke to him yesterday, I do it about twice a year, they're on the verge of bankruptcy and the future looks gloomy as ever. I tried to talk him into crypto, but all he has is a mountain of debt and no way to pay it. It seems like it might be too late for him. His only hope is selling everything and moving to a shit-hole apartment for the rest of their days. Imagine working your ass off to be able to enjoy retirement at its fullest, but instead you end up living your retirement days in poverty while you wasted the best years of your life in a company that doesn't give a flying fuck about you. Fuck that!
It doesn't have to be the same way for you though. You have a big advantage right now, because you are already reading this. I'm begging you, don't take anything for granted in life, for life is as volatile as Bitcoin.
If you really want to get off this rat race, and stop being a wage slave, you better start taking some risks. It's time to man up and say, "I'm a human being, god damnit, I am worthy of a better life!"
"There is risk, but life itself is risk. For a higher life there will be higher risks. You move on a dangerous path. But remember, there is only one error in life, and that is not moving at all; that is, just sitting afraid that if you move something may go wrong, so it is better to wait and sit. This is the only error. You will not be in danger but no growth will be possible"
