Bitcion founder

Ok, so I must preface by saying that I feel SO daft posting this because it's neither here nor there to me. And this is such an oft asked question, I fear the wrath. But my partner loves to hypothesise about who invented bitcoin. And I love the man so damn much that I am more than happy to cop it for him. I am working in the car right now as I wait for him to finish up with a client, so I will browse the sub after I post this if I have time (wrong order...I know). I told him I'd ask ya'll while he is gone, so I must keep my word.

So....like many, he believes the founder of Bitcoin is the government. I believe nothing, because again, whatevs. I told him i doubt the gov would create something that was mostly utilised on dodgy sites like SilkRoad. He said that is EXACTLY why they did it..who else would have adopted it so quickly if not for those wanting a way to pay for illegal things online? Then they shut that down once it gained traction and it started to become appealing to the rest of us. His arguments make sense though, and the one that really got me is, if no-one knows who invented it, how is there a HQ for it? Who runs it? Who authorised it? Honestly, I am sure there are actual answers for these that turn it away from gov foundership, but I thought if we put it all in a single thread it would make for some good reading for him.

So please forgive me in advance. When it comes to certain things, I'd rather come to reddit instead of spending time googling as conversation and speculation here is always so much more fun - and intelligent. Both of us work for our own businesses so we don't spend our days researching these things....this was just a convo we had in the car on the way here, and we all look for things that make the most sense to us, and this is his thing currently. We're not conspiracists or anything and he's always open to different outlooks. In fact, unlike me, he loves being proven wrong. It's a quirk of his thankfully, because I'm always right ;)

I wonder how many different perspectives we'll come out with here? And which will he decide to go with?!
