I'm not impressed by altcoin functionality.
They promise to be faster than Bitcoin without telling you they sacrifice decentralization to achieve it. I don't need a faster-than-Bitcoin central database. There are already much faster central databases than any altcoin can hope to be. Adding a handful of VC-controlled nodes and a consensus algorithm so you can call it a blockchain does not impress me.
Or they promise new types of contracts. Nonfungible tokens that refer to image files on centrally-hosted file servers does not impress me. A "world computer" does not impress me.
Maybe others are more easily impressed than I am, or maybe they just don't realize that what they're being sold as "new tech" by venture capitalists and marketing departments is almost certainly overhyped garbage meant to enrich a few insiders when the rug is pulled.
