Can I just buy or sell before the funding rate for perpetual futures?

Is there any point to trying to buy after or inbetween a funding rate? Seems easy money before a funding rate.

Even if people keep buying near the next funding rate, the funding rate is average so still lower, hell this even pushes the average thus makes the person buying early carry more uncertainty and risk.

Or if losing the future’s trade I can sell before funding rate to get back all my money so I don;t have to pay anyone, or avoid liquidation? Does liquidation only happen at funding rate time?

and what's a typical funding rate?
