CBDCs will be a Trojan horse

It goes without saying that no one in this sub likes CBDCs. It's crypto with all the noble parts of crypto stripped away, all for goverment control and an eventual dystopian hell.

One just has to look at the social credit system in China and their thirsting for a CBDC to accompany it to see what we're heading for.

Jaywalk a couple of times, post non-flattering words about the president, and loiter, good luck fucking never being able to use public transport again.We see this because we're educated in this space. The problem is the average citizen is not going to have this foresight.

We've often said that for adoption to occur, certain aspects of crypto and it's difficulty needs to be addressed. There are no backstops if you send to the wrong address or navigate in between chains incorrectly. The space is abstract, tech-heavy and difficult to understand. It's really easy to lose money if you're not tech savvy.

CBDCs will fix this. They will have all the backstops of traditional finance and be super palatable to the Average Joe.

My worry is that adoption of CBDCs will outpace traditional crypto because of this. Citizens will allow this through their walls under the guise that it's a gift and good for them to adopt. Before you know it, we'll be in an Orwellian nightmare.
