Hello and Goodbye

I’ve been a long time member of this subreddit and I am leaving. Before I go, I wanted to share my journey and say my goodbyes to the subreddit that I have checked at least twice a day, everyday for the last 5 years. This will be my first and last post.

I first bought in when bitcoin was at 20k back in 2020. At that time I was renting a run down 100yr old apartment for $600/month, in college and living off money I had saved up from 5 years in the navy/GI bill.

One night while smoking weed and doomscrolling away from the realities of a bleak Covid job market. I saw a video of Elon saying something about how young people over value risk. It really jived with me (or the cannabis) and I decided right then I was gonna be a Bitcoin millionaire. I dumped every dollar I had into this little known app called robinhood (it’s bad…. I know…) and bought all the bitcoin available to me. I am ashamed to admit it but I have been guilty of panic selling and fomo buying but somehow I still managed to accumulate a few coins at a dca of 22k (all on robinhood…. I know….). It’s been almost 5 years and I’m still not a bitcoin millionaire but I’m done and I’m okay with that.

Since 2020, I’ve graduated, rejoined the workforce (completely unrelated to my degree), married and have a son due any day now. I decided to liquidate my bitcoins to pay off my house, buy a rental property and prepare for my son’s arrival. I traded in my dreams of becoming a bitcoin millionaire today and it definitely hurts but honestly I’m glad it’s over.

When the rest of you guys make it to the moon, look back and remember us little people who fell off the rocket and back to earth along the way.

I hope all of you end up in the green and make more money than you deserve.

I leave you with this to commemorate the end of my Bitcoin journey.
