I created the Reddit Crypto Index and it will face against a Crypto Tech Index. And you guys made me feel filthty

Have you ever wondered what a Reddit crypto portfolio would look like?

I always wondered how a reddit community portfolio would look like, which coins would a typical reddit user put into his portfolio? So I talked with the founder of a crypto analysis website (quantintegral.com) and we brainstormed how we could wrap the reddit crypto community into a crypto index. At the basic level you can think of an index as a basket which holds different projects and has a predefined start value. For us it was important that each reddit user could have an impact to the index and the Red Crypto Index was born:

• Each month 7 cryptocurrencies with the most subreddit subscribers are selected
• Due to liquidity: crypto projects needs to be in the top ~35 on coinmarketcap
• If a coin goes out of the index then its value will be distributed between the rest

I will treat this as an experiment and will track it long term. Since I don’t trust you guys blindfolded but still want to make it spicy I will monthly DCA 20$ into each of the coins in the Red Crypto Index. Yesterday the Red Index went live and I had to stomach when I saw it. Here is what you guys selected:

I just sucked it and bought the shitcoins in the Reddit Index. It was the first time I bought shitcoins I was always against: DOGE and SHIB; I still feel filthy from buying it… I hope it gets better with time.

To compare this result I will also track the Crypto Tech Index of quantintegral.com. They have their own criteria to track the development in the crypto space - it consists of the following coins:

Here I felt a bit better, most of these coins I've heard at least something positive . Here I will also monthly DCA 20$ into each of these coins. This is my result on 2022-09-01:

• Red Crypto Portfolio: 140$
• Crypto Tech Portfolio: 140$

TD;DR: I created the Reddit Crypto Index which tracks monthly the 7 most subscribed crypto subreddits.
