If a project's whitepaper is overly complicated, it is not a good sign.

I'm writing this in response to a post that's currently on the front page of this subreddit.

As an engineer, I cannot emphasize enough on how you can gauge the skills of teams working behind a product just from their reports.

A sign of good design, is the ability to explain it simply so that anyone can understand it.

As someone that works with smart contracts, I can say that it is even more important in the crypto space.

If their whitepaper is overly complex with lots of technical jargon and buzzwords, it's a sure sign that they are trying to hide something from you/they are trying to make their product seem more impressive than it is/they were too lazy to explain their work in simple terms for the average person. Those usually give me immediate trust issues with the teams behind these projects.

As any engineering professor will tell you, writing reports is a skill, and a well written, concise paper is the best impression you can give your users.

Just wanted to rant a little, as always it's best to make your own judgements and DYOR
