Keeping codes for cold storage wallets

I see a lot of people on this subreddit saying about how they have their codes written down and kept 6ft under their house with the exact coordinates tattooed on their body…

Why do people worry so much about loosing their codes? I keep mine written down in a safe in my bedroom, also one in a folder in my office.

How hard is it just to put it somewhere and leave it alone? People go to such extreme measures to hide them - I understand it may be worth a lot of money, but just put it somewhere safe and that’s all you need to do.

EDIT: I might of worded it weirdly, by codes i mean the 12 or 24 words.
