My boss is using insider trading?

TLDR: My boss has managed to make close to $100k trading thanks to tips he gets from a friend.

My boss (Jerry) started talking about the new extension he’s putting on his home that he paid for with crypto profits. Now, I’ve known this man for a few years and he is not only the last person I’d expect to get into crypto but I know for a fact that he knows absolutely nothing about it. So I begin asking questions.

Jerry tells me that his friend (Tom) downloaded these apps onto his phone one night and convinced him to put some money into it. It was a wallet and some kind of exchange I think (I still don’t even understand fully). All his buddy told him was that it was crypto but it was guaranteed profit and Jerry trusted him after seeing his account.

Jerry gets texts from Tom a few times a week saying to open the app and when another text comes through either long or short. Jerry listens and has only lost money once. It’s what Jerry thinks is USD but it’s actually some stablecoin that automatically pulls from his wallet, transfers to BTC and then gets entered into a timed trade of some kind. It can be 1/5/30/60 minutes iirc. Once the time is up the trade executes and the money automatically transfer from BTC back the the stablecoin and into his wallet.

I didn’t really believe him, because how could this random guy be predicting movements of Bitcoin that well. And then I’m assuming using leverage (?) he’s returning 100+% on each trade. Then he says Toms uncle is big into crypto, and worth a few hundred million. So I became interested again. He has no reason to lie and he wouldn’t of been able to come up with it on his own. so how was Tom hitting all his trades and is the uncle involved some how?

Is there a chance this guys uncle has enough capital to move BTC up a % point? Or is he part of something bigger?
