My Moving Goal Posts In Crypto Investing, Anybody Else?

When I started buying BTC back in 2017 I had a clear-cut goal knowing nothing about the technology, pay off my student loans. Let's just say that as my knowledge of the space increased, my portfolio increased, and understanding the ramifications of crypto, my goals have shifted significantly multiple times.

2017: IDK what this is but everyone says it'll go up it's like gold, I'll buy in until I can pay off my loans.

Goal: Pay off student loans.

2018: Start to understand BTC a little more, why it has value, etc. I reach my goal to pay my loans off but now knowing why it has value, I don't want to sell it because I'm convinced it's digital gold and will go higher.

New goal: pay off loan + a buy a new car

2019: Now I've been DCAing a few years, I fully grasp btc as an idea, but not really blockchain tech. I hodl my BTC without giving the rest of the market much thought. Those from the earlier days will know how paranoid the space was over scamcoins and rug pulls, I just kept hyper focused on btc, at this point I could take out everything and buy my car and pay off my loan, but I started to truly believe in BTC.

New goal: loan pay off, new car, AND a house down payment.

2020: Covid hits, my faith in BTC as a stock market hedge is shattered. I ignore my holdings as the world falls into covid. Around Oct I see BTC is on the move but it's already ~12k, I see other projects far behind their previous ath, so I expand my crypto knowledge to learn about ETH. Now this is where I start to understand the true value of blockchain tech and how it can revolutionize most industries on the planet. I empty a decent sum into ETH, and my expectations for this tech are really, really high. There's no way I'm selling anytime soon.

New goal: pay off loan, buy new car, and enough to buy myself a house CASH.

2021: Market is hitting it's stride, everything is way up. I've also looked into MORE promising projects like ada and link and am a chart gremlin. At this point I am balls deep in crypto, I believe in this tech more than anything else in my life now or previously. At this point i am convinced crypto can do much more than pay off my student loans or buy me a house.

New Goal: Pay off loan, buy new car, buy myself a house overseas, and have enough staked where I never have to work again and can travel the world

And I still haven't taken profit to pay off those loans or buy that car (My 2002 Camry still running strong!) Crypto is a slippery slope imo, just curious how many other hodlers have followed a similar progression ????
