Long post. TL;DR at the end.
I have a friend who’s in a unique and challenging situation, and I thought this community might have some brilliant insights. They’ve recently come into possession of 1 million tokens of a certain utility cryptocurrency. Without going into specifics (for privacy reasons), here’s the crux of the issue:
• The crypto in question is relatively niche, with a daily trading volume hovering around $20k. • It’s not widely listed – only available on a couple of exchanges. • The current market price puts the nominal value of these tokens at around half a million dollars.
However, the low liquidity of the market means cashing out a significant portion could heavily impact the token’s price (not to mention tax implications and potential market panic).
We’re brainstorming strategies to realize value from this holding without causing a market crash or waiting years to liquidate. So far, we’ve considered:
• Gradual selling over a long period. • Using the tokens as collateral for a stablecoin or cash loan. • Exploring staking or yield farming options, if available.
But we’re feeling a bit stuck and could really use some fresh perspectives. What creative, effective strategies could be employed here? Are there any out-of-the-box ways to leverage such a holding that we might be overlooking?
Any insights, experiences, or advice would be massively appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and thoughts!
TL;DR: Friend holds 1M tokens of a low-liquidity utility crypto, worth about $500k nominally. Looking for creative strategies to profit from these tokens without tanking the market price. All ideas are welcome!
