suppose you wanted to find a way to reward a certain class of person, namely, those who are:
intensely pessimistic about the current state of human global affairs, yet
intensely optimistic about what is possible for humanity
someone who simultaneously believes:
the current global system is corrupt and broken, favoring wealthy elites over the masses, but
property rights are fundamentally fair, and an inescapable way of organizing human activity
suppose you wanted to reward people who think, "we don't need a revolution to tear everything in the world down, nor do we need a complex set of experts to manage the world - we just need the rules of the most fundamental game to be fair and open."
suppose further that you wanted to do this in a way that made it damn near impossible for people who disagree with this way of thinking to share in the reward.
how could you possibly do a better job than bitcoin?
Due to its volatile, unorthodox nature, bitcoin makes itself damn near impossible to buy into, unless you believe all of these seemingly contradictory things. This requires either very intelligent, curious, open minded people who are still willing to form strong judgements that go against consensus of almost every high status "expert" - or else simple distrust in the current system, coupled willingness to take a bet on something which is telling you, "don't worry about the ups and downs of today, be patient, live frugally and have hope for the future."
nobody is simultaneously more pessimistic about the global system at present, yet optimistic about what is both possible and likely, than bitcoiners
and yet somehow this thing, come out of nowhere from an anonymous person, rewards all of us for thinking this way?
i'd be tempted to call BS if i didn't know it were true
