The man behind Cryptsy later worked for my exchange under a false identity. Six years later, I'm publishing the evidence.

I was the CEO of Altilly, a smaller cryptocurrency exchange that was hacked in December 2020.

One of the most important people behind Altilly's technical infrastructure was a developer we knew as "Mike."

I now believe Mike was Paul Vernon.

No court or law-enforcement authority has confirmed that identification. I want to make that absolutely clear.

I'm making the evidence public so people can examine it themselves:

This isn't based on one username, one screenshot, or simply somebody telling me that Mike was Vernon.

The site lays out the evidence we accumulated concerning Mike's identity and places it alongside the internal records from Altilly itself.

I've also published the internal Altilly management chat covering July 2019 through October 2021. It is searchable and read-only, with customer information and identifying information belonging to unrelated private individuals removed. Those removals are documented on the Transparency page.

That means you don't have to rely solely on my reconstruction of events.

You can read what we were actually saying internally before the hack, while it was happening, and afterward.

And I'm not publishing only material that makes me look good.

The records document my own mistakes as CEO, decisions I would make differently today, problems surrounding the refund process, and messages I'm not proud of. I've also corrected statements I made publicly in 2025 where the underlying evidence doesn't support what I previously said.

The site therefore separates the underlying records from my interpretation of them.

The central question I'm putting forward is:

Was the developer known to us as "Mike" actually Paul Vernon of Cryptsy?

I've reached my own conclusion.

If anyone from the old Cryptsy community recognizes information in these records, has historical material concerning Vernon that can independently confirm or contradict what I've published, or sees something I've gotten factually wrong, I want to hear from you.
