Two weeks left to use up coins for awards - what RCP is coming after that?

As know from the earlier award showers that was happening, Reddit decided to set the deadline for using up coins for awards for September the 12th. In two weeks.

Fake internet points are finally worth something! Now redditors can earn real money for their contributions to the Reddit community, based on the karma and gold they've been given. How it works: Redditors give gold to posts, comments, or other contributions they think are really worth something. Eligible contributors that earn enough karma and gold can cash out their earnings for real money. Contributors apply to the program to see if they're eligible. Top contributors make top dollar. The more karma and gold contributors earn, the more money they can receive.

I would like to venture a guess that moons will be (Is it even possible?) less tradable outside of the Reddit sphere, or what is more reasonable;

Reddit decides to stop supporting / distributing their current RCP's and instead tokenizes the Karma system, and forces us to use Stripe to facilitate payout (With all the KYC that comes along with it)

This going hand in hand with any wish of a company to keep their products strictly inside of their own platform, in order to make more money hand over fist.

Am I reading into to hard? Will Reddit be the first company that will do a IPO while also allows "money" earned on the platform to flow outside of their control, minimising their own earning potentials, while investors frown?
