James Howell was a UK resident who mined 7,500 bitcoin in 2009 and then accidentally threw out the hard drive at some point in 2013.
I have been researching into James Howells' story and trying to piece together a timeline. However, one particular piece of information has been surprisingly hard to determine - when did he actually throw out the hard drive?
It's widely reported that this was at some point in 2013. I even found a source at one point which suggested it was August 2013. But in terms of determining a more precise date I haven't been able to. Surely I would think that James would have been able to remember the date and this could also be useful in his search.
While I'm asking questions, does anyone actually know if the bitcoin mined in 2009 was consolidated or remains in various wallets? Has anyone ever managed to locate any of that on the bitcoin blockchain itself?
Thanks so much!
