Why has Bitcoin not seen any major hacks or compromises?

I know there have been some issues with exchanges and scammers like SBF, but unlike some other derivative cryptocurrencies there doesn’t seem to be any major security or flash crash concerns that have emerged with BTC. Why would you say that is? For a first of its kind there’s no way everything was perfect in version 1.

As an aside it’s kind of mind boggling how many other cryptos there are on all major exchanges. It’s so hard to know what is safe and what isn’t.
