Will btc cause deflation?

I am holding 40% of my entire assets in btc. But one thing makes me doubt the future of btc: imagine btc is widely adopted, everyone realizes they can buy more with less btc because the total amount is fixed and some of them will inevitably be lost over times. So everyone can just stop working and hold their coins to wait for price to drop. It will cause serious deflation. how can the economy work?

I hope I am wrong and someone can give me new perspectives.
