I always do this privately at the start of every Moons distribution, for just a couple of users, but just to see if I can put my finger on the pulse of the subreddit. It's funny to see the older distributions where meme posters got the lions share of the moons and how that changed. Anyway.
User | Content |
---|---|
#1 | Mostly comments, some news stories and a good chunk from theoretical self posts |
#2 | Couple informative posts but mostly comments, comedic in nature and some GIFs |
#3 | Zero posts, all comments and most highly rated (700+) each. |
#4 | Lots of Moon meta discussion in comments |
#5 | Again mainly moon meta discussion. Gave away some moons and in return earned thousands of upvotes which probably gained him 200x more moons than he gave away. Generosity pays off sometimes. |
#6 | LOTS of posts to front page of /CC. A lot. But only a couple kicked off. Then just general posting and receiving a lot of upvoted comments |
#7 | Went from spamming memes to spamming comedy comments. Guess have a quick wit earns some bucks. |
#8 | Gives a lot of genuinely useful advice and then offers some common insights sure to earn some quick upvotes. Not really a front page poster. |
#9 | Can't see anything obvious so I think it's the sheer quantity of posts, a few comments with 200 karma or so. |
#10 | Same as above. Must've done thousands of posts to earn this karma. |
#11 | Big time front-page poster, mainly moon focused. Uses GIF's to get a lot of upvotes. Mainly comedic. Does give good advice and general insightful commentary. |
#12 | Whoa that's a lot of 0-rated self posts. But got a few lucky comments in with hundreds of upvotes. Ezpz. |
#13 | Quite a few big comments but also, got a +6500 upvoted thread in before the karma distribution. I wonder how much karma was counted before the cut off? Maybe we will see the day before the distribution be the quietest because I don't think upvotes given after a distribution count for posts made before the distribution. |
#14 | Genuinely helpful posts and then the comments are GIF's, meme's and jokes galore. |
#15 | Some low-traction posts and then a high volume of comments that did reasonably well. |
And that's as much as I can stomach for now. So what did we learn?
1) I'm obviously some kind of self-proclaimed reddit detective
2) If you log on to reddit with a fuckin' Jerry Seinfeld mentality, making snarky quips and witticisms as much as possible you'll earn your $300 per month from Moons.
3) A surefire way to help yourself AND the community is to think of good self posts that are beneficial to a lot of people. IMO, these posts should receive bonus karma as an incentive.
4) Contrary to what I thought, it appears that people who recycle the same old "Don't invest in RobinHood!" mince aren't actually getting loads of moons.
