In response to the person who is afraid to use metamask. I'm sure there are others that feel the same way and I want to make a post about how metamask isn't to be afraid of. But you should absolutely have a great respect for what contracts you sign and what transactions you make. A lot of money can be lost while being reckless with your money.
I have gathered a bunch of tips for everybody to follow but I'm sure there are more good security tips.
- NEVER EVER tell anyone your secret phrase or post it to any channel. This is the most basic one, it's the crypto equivalent of giving away your credit card and pin-code to a stranger.
- Use a hardware wallet if you can afford one. It's worth the money. Which means that you can't make any transactions without authorizing them physically with a device that you have at your home. You can still sign stupid transactions or send money to people with malicious intent.
- This goes without saying but backup your seed phrase securely. Don't store it as a txt-file on your computer FOR GODS SAKE PEOPLE. I've read about this way too many times. If your computer gets compromised I'm sure any hackers will look for your "wallet.txt" and drain your ass.
- Always check the URL. Like seriously! If somebody sends you a link out of the blue, don't click it. Type it in manually and make sure it's the right one. If something looks weird, it probably is.
- Don't trust anything anybody says over DM's.
