My bitcoin standard, and what comes next

A little more than four years ago, unbeknownst to me at the time, I started on my own bitcoin standard. This included:

-Reduced spending/consumption

-Investing in BTC including selling real estate to acquire more btc

-Spending a lot of time on twitter

-Finding health and working out

-Reconnecting with my parents

Although it has been a wild ride, bitcoin has changed my life for the better. Financially I accomplished in net worth what I expected by 45-46 and I'm 41. 5-4 years early is a big, big deal. My outlook on life didn't do a 180, but it did a 90.

However, I am here to share my thoughts on what comes next.

Part of my waking up, so to speak, is realizing and ACCEPTING that thing are getting ugly for most people. I know many guys who make $150-$300k a year who have not figured out that they are getting poorer. Many people in my group are starting to get pissed off that they don't own assets. They feel betrayed by the system, and they are right to feel that way.

I am 41. I started working a year before the financial crisis. Today, it is very apparent that we are, if trends continue, probably 5 years away from a functional middle class. We are also 5 years away from seeing wealth extremes we didn't think possible.

Having bitcoin or not having will be another gap between people. I cannot stress most people have missed the most obvious trade of our generation (the 2nd being Tesla) and the anger and resentment is only beginning to surface.

If you want to accumulate bitcoin, here's what I've learned. Take whatever you want and throw the rest away.

1. Protect your income at all costs. Have a horrible boss? Doesn't matter. Protect your income. The ability to buy bitcoin right now is underappreciated.

2. Understand that most of your friends, family, coworkers, bosses, customers, pastors, and buddies you went to high school with, have missed bitcoin and will continue to miss bitcoin.

3. Many of you will get wealthy. Some will end up far wealthier than they imagined. The quieter you can be about this, the more you will benefit. The louder you will be, the more it will hurt you.

4. there is nothing wrong with selling...but realize most of us regret selling.

5. Have a real conversation with yourself about selling your rental real estate for btc. It's the absolute worst thing to hold onto for the next 5 years.
