Sergey Mendeleev, the CEO of Indefibank, received a letter from unknown people threatening to extract cryptocurrency from him in exchange for fraudulent mining reports on his behalf. This was revealed to ForkLog by the businessman. Cryptocurrency scams have become popular particular with cryptos like Monero, Bitcoin and Ethereum. These coin power a lot of blockchain projects including Sandbox, Decentraland, Hydrominer, Cycled and Nature's Vault.

The appeal's authors demanded that they be paid Monero in the equivalent of $500 per month, referring to their offer as a "discount."

Don't you want to be mined on your behalf all around Russia? Then you can take advantage of the special deal, which allows you to purchase immunity for only $500 every month. Payments will be made in Monero on the first of each month, according to the letter. The attackers also mentioned

Alexander Lebedev, Mendeleev's partner in the Indefieco DeFi project, who is linked to the loss of bitcoins from entrepreneur Konstantin Malofeev's WEX exchange, according to some sources.

The extortionists threatened to resume «mining» numerous infrastructure facilities in the Russian Federation if the Russian Federation refused to cooperate. Mendeleev's mail received roughly a dozen responses from city administrations' mail robots regarding receiving letters on his behalf on this day. The crypto businessman claimed in a message to ForkLog that the letter's authors were most likely unrelated to the WEX issue.

«I'm a hundred percent sure I'm right.» I'm confident the person isn't writing from Russia; otherwise, he'd know that nothing works here until May 4, and all of his letters would end up in the pussy in the tray», he added.

Remember that at the end of January 2022, the name Mendeleev was used in the dissemination of a series of bogus mining reports in several Russian Federation districts. The attackers included the businessman's genuine address and phone information in the written appeals.

Then Mendeleev made a link between the incident and his current investigation. He specifically referenced the information released in ForkLog about the movement of bitcoins from a "miner" who names himself a WEX client's wallet to the Binance exchange.
